A little reflection post. Not really about the game. About the readers.
I started this guide as one Reddit comment. Somebody asked how to map a controller to Sideswipe and I wrote way too much in the reply. A few people asked me to turn it into a proper page, so I did. That was almost exactly a year ago.
The thing I did not expect was the emails. I still get one or two a week from people saying the tutorial helped them play again after wrist pain, or after switching from console, or — my favorite — from a dad who wanted to play the same game as his kid without embarrassing himself. He said the controller setup let him actually keep up. That one stuck with me.
I've also gotten some pretty upset emails. Mostly from people whose phones do the settings menu differently than mine and who assumed the guide was wrong. It probably was, for their phone. That's the hardest part of writing this — Android is a thousand different phones with a thousand different menus and I only own one of them.
Anyway. Thank you for reading. Thank you for sending screenshots when something is unclear. I'll keep this thing up as long as people find it useful. See you on the pitch.
